I had the idea to source images from online creators who are already working in the body positivity space. We will be able to get a few photos from our communities, but for this project we will have to source a majority of them elsewhere. That is not something that would happen here and could be perceived negatively. Paraguay is the most conservative country in South America and asking women to be vulnerable and have their photo taken has a different connotation than it would in the United States. Not only are out circles somewhat small at this point, but it would require consent of strangers. That has proven to be somewhat difficult as we are both newly living in South America, Leigh in Brazil and I am in Paraguay. In early brainstorming talks, Leigh and I had discussed asking women around us if we could photograph them. One thing that stood out to me was a question about where we are sourcing our photos. Professor Andrew posed some valuable questions and gave us a lot to think about regarding how best to begin putting our work together. After some great feedback about our concept, Leigh and I began narrowing down and refining our ideas.
